🥬🍲 Cabbage Soup with Ground Beef

🥬🍲 Cabbage Soup with Ground Beef

Servings: 6–8 | Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 1.5–2 hours

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 2 small onions, diced
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) stewed tomatoes
  • 1 pouch Lipton Onion Soup Mix (any flavor)
  • 1 large celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 pounds ground beef
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups water or beef broth (optional, for thinner soup)

🔥 Instructions:

  1. Brown the ground beef:
In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add vegetables:
Add diced onions and chopped celery to the beef. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onions are translucent and celery softens.
  3. Add cabbage and tomatoes:
Stir in the chopped cabbage and the cans of stewed tomatoes (with their juice).
  4. Add Lipton Onion Soup Mix:
Sprinkle the pouch of Lipton Onion Soup Mix over the soup ingredients. Stir well to combine.
  5. Add liquid (optional):
For a thinner soup, add 4 cups of water or beef broth. Stir again.
  6. Simmer:
Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and flavors are well blended.
  7. Season and serve:
Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot.

✅ Tips:

  • Add some crushed red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Serve with crusty bread or over cooked rice for a more filling meal.
  • This soup freezes well—perfect for meal prep!
